If you have been following the careening twists and turns in the life of Hope Amorouse, then you will be happy to know that there is some news regarding those chronicles. I have combined the first four novellas in her series into one full-length novel now and I am currently shopping this book around to publishing houses. I am also working on the concluding volume in this intrepid series. The combined novellas will be entitled: Hope’s Divine Rainbow while the concluding volume will be known as: The Wilderness of Love.
Here is the synopsis for Hope’s Divine Rainbow:
On her first mission for God, Hope Amorouse, along with her friends, come upon an accident on a local, rainy highway. Hope doesn’t consider herself to be heroic, but they feel compelled to stop anyway. They administer CPR to Henry Callibi and save his life. Hope meets Henry’s niece while working on their state’s Governor campaign, together. Henry finds out that the women that saved his life are transgender and he is appalled and disgusted. Over the course of the book he comes to know that his niece is a lesbian and his heart starts to soften towards the LGBT community. This mission culminates with Henry reciprocating Hope’s kindness as he saves Hope’s life out on Highway 73 and in the process, redeems his own life. Henry mentions that his niece is sweet on Hope and suggests that they get to know each other better.
During the second heavenly errand thrust upon her, Hope wrestles with her personal conflicts of being both a Christian and transgender after she and her friends are confronted by judgmental Christian evangelizers. These women claim that the Bible condemns transgender people, but hope stands up for Jesus’s loving nature. She makes friends with a fellow transgender woman, Audrey, who suffers from schizophrenia. Inexplicably to Hope, the friendship starts to come apart. Hope then finds out that Henry has died and has left her millions of dollars in his will. As Hope recovers from her injuries from a tornado, Audrey and Hope patch up their friendship and Hope learns valuable lessons about respect and forgiveness in relationships. Hope is visited by an Angel who imparts words of encouragement as well as some other surprising, secret information. At the Thanksgiving feast, Audrey announces that she wants to be baptized under her female name. The next day, Hope is invited to go out west to see her special friend, Grace. Hope’s doctor then calls to tell her she has a brain tumor, and she has a subsequent, wild dream experience. Audrey has her inspiring baptism and at the end there is a rainbow shining through the stained-glass windows on the floor next to them. The transwomen feel a sense of validation from God, through this. The hearts of some of Hope’s transgender friends are softened toward Christianity here, despite all of the intolerance from many Christians.
The third mission starts out in Colorado where Hope is visiting Grace, before her surgery. The two women are hiking in the mountains when a wildfire of Biblical proportions, flares up and sends the ladies scrambling for safety. Hope has her surgery, but the operation goes awry. Hope wakes up in heaven where she meets her guardian angel and talks with Jesus. She is then sent back to post-apocalyptic Earth and to an eerily deserted hospital. Jesus is Hope’s doctor as she comes back around from an apparent coma. Hope doesn’t blink as she is the bait when the Devil himself makes an appearance and tries to kill Hope. But Jesus steps in and vanquishes the Devil once and for all. Hope then finds herself back in Heaven and she is astonished as she is briefed about, and thanked for the mission of courage that she was just on.
During Hope’s fourth adventure on God’s behalf, Hope encounters her old friend, Faith, in a nearly completely abandoned Earth. The two contend with some wild weather phenomena as they knock around in the penthouse of a luxurious high-rise. They also manage to kill the last demon that was residing on Earth. Hope laments her present plight to God in prayer. Faith comes upon an intriguing, baby who they take in and try to nurture. Faith is then tragically killed by a bear in a nearby park. Jesus now reappears, and briefs Hope about, and thanks her for the mission of faith that she has just completed. He tells her that she has one more upcoming special errand to do. The two then head back to Heaven to prepare for the concluding expedition.
Please stay tuned for more updates.
